Trace a Win That Uses the Top Reel

Some releases add a horizontal reel above the main grid. Its symbols may feed particular columns, add wilds or take part in a feature, but the exact job belongs to the loaded game. Treat the top reel as part of the recorded layout until the help file says otherwise.

Capture the whole opening layout

Save the horizontal reel, all main reels, stake and round reference before a cascade removes symbols. A cropped image of the main grid can hide the symbol that completed or modified the win.

Find the stated connection rule

Open the information panel and check which main reels the upper positions affect. Do not assume that a symbol directly above a column automatically belongs to every route through that column.

Follow adjacent reels from the required side

Mark each matching symbol on the first qualifying reel, then follow the allowed adjacent reels. Count separate occurrences on a reel only as the current pay rule instructs.

Reconcile the displayed line item

Compare the reconstructed path with the win breakdown or provider history. If the amount still differs, retain the full screen and round reference for the operator rather than relying on a later grid.

Common questions

Is every top-reel symbol part of a win?

No. Its role depends on the active release.

Can a top reel add wild symbols?

Some titles use it that way; verify the loaded rules.

What should be saved before symbols disappear?

The full grid, stake, time and round reference.
